About Me
As a microbial ecologist by training, I study how microorganisms (bacteria, archaea, and fungi) drive biogeochemical cycles in different environments. I use tools from microbial ecology, analytical chemistry, ecosystem ecology, and modeling to understand carbon cycling in drylands and understand how drylands contribute to and are affected by global climate change.
I am currently serving as an officer in the NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps where I serve as Navigation Officer on the NOAA Ship Nancy Foster. We conduct oceanographic research, fisheries research, and ocean exploration throughout the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, and along the East Coast of the United States. I try to get camping, hiking, or canoeing whenever I'm not hunting down ingredients to cook Louisiana cuisine away from home. |
